As the Omicron variant of COVID-19 sweeps through the Philippines, the positive cases have shot up to 40%. This is well over the 5% threshold set by the World Health Organization. This is a press release about the fight against Omicron with Lianhua Qingwen as a prophylactic measure. Source: Philippine Archipelago International Trading Corporation.
The Characteristics of the Omicron Variant
If there is anything good with the Omicron variant in this pandemic is that it is reported to have milder symptoms. It also may be because a large percentage of the population is vaccinated and people have also been more careful.
Some are optimistic that this variant will act or cause a natural immunity and lead to the end of the pandemic.
However, even if the Omicron symptoms are mild, recent research by the National Institute of Health (NIH) in China showed that the virus may stay in the body. It can be present in the brain and other organs for over 200 days, even after the patient has turned in a negative result.
Early Treatment and Lianhua Qingwen
Aside from vaccination, early treatment has always been key in going through a COVID-19 infection. Keeping over-the-counter cough and cold medicines at home is a good practice during this time. Another option is to stock up on Lianhua Qingwen capsules on hand for the treatment of Omicron-related symptoms.
Throughout the pandemic, Lianhua Qingwen has been a known treatment for lung ailments typically caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Various clinical trials have shown that Lianhua Qingwen can relieve the symptoms associated with COVID-19 and even speed up recovery.
Lianhua Qingwen as Prophylaxis
However, since Omicron is fast-spreading, chances of exposure are very high so using it as prevention should also be considered.
In a recent study entitled, “Efficacy and Safety of Lianhua Qingwen Capsules for the Prevention of Coronavirus Disease 2019: A Prospective Open-Label Controlled Trial”, it was concluded that this Chinese medicine conferred preventive effects on those exposed to COVID-19. And “in light of their efficacy and safety profile, LH capsules can be considered useful for the prevention of COVID-19 upon exposure.”
In the same study, the incidence rate of symptoms after close contact for those taking Lianhua Qingwen Capsules was 1.2%. Meanwhile, the rates were higher compared to other prophylactic drugs, which is 6.8%. The incidence rate for those who did not use any prophylactic drugs is 8.8%. Safety Protocols to Remember
Still, a lot of things depend on the public for our individual safety. We should still exercise vigilance during this time. The best way to go is still to follow safety protocols, namely:
- Wear a face mask when going out and talking to other people.
- Observe physical distancing and spending time with other people without masks.
- Avoid indoor crowds.
- Wash your hands often, especially after handling money.
- Avoid touching your face when you are out and about.
- Get vaccinated if you haven’t yet and get the booster shot when your schedule is up.
- Consult your doctor when you develop symptoms and isolate yourself immediately.
Stay safe and keep yourselves healthy. Take your food supplements every day to boost immunity.
