🌳Happy to join the Seeds of Hope tree planting activity of Citadines Bacolod City. We planted about 100 seedlings of endemic trees at the Bacolod Eco-Park, near the landfill, at Brgy. Felisa, Bacolod City. This area serves as the “buffer zone” to absorb the carbon dioxide from the “green” landfill. Surprisingly, there was no smell!

One of the core values that we teach our kids is love for the environment. While we do not do this often, I am glad that part of Siobe’s core memories was a tree planting activity we did in Isabela, Negros Occidental during pre-pandemic years.

I am so happy to join this activity not only for the kids but also for the discovery that the garbage problem in our city is being addressed sustainably.

The Gen. Aniceto Lacson Ancestral House (GALAH), often referred to as Casa Grande or the Claparols Mansion, a historic landmark in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, which will soon be a national treasure.

This was a tour for the Negrensé Bloggers by Mr. Pons Balcells, a descendant of Gen. Lacson, who was able to see the mansion in its former splendor. Found it fitting to post now as we are nearing the celebration of Cinco de Noviembre — a local holiday commemorating our province’s freedom from the Spanish government.

The mansion featured architectural marvels with European and Chinese influences. Many parts of wrap-around balcony, hard wood carvings, handmade bricks, and wooden nails are still intact.

Can’t wait to see it restored and become a museum!

Honoring the not so little one—our bunso.

I was cooking the traditional birthday spaghetti for for their Dad’s birthday when I realized that I ran out of mushrooms. Asked Siobe it she wanted mushrooms, she can go buy a can at the neighborhood grocer. She agreed so I told her to ask Dad for some money.

But she refused to let Dad “fund” his own birthday so she got 100 from her savings can and bought the mushrooms. Such a sweet, sweet kid with initiative!
