Shane got an Oli’s Boxship for her 5th birthday.

Our little Shane got an Oli’s Boxship for her 5th Birthday, which was a gift from the NESTOGROW team. She happily opened it and then we started playing.

Check out Shane’s video while Unboxing her first Oli’s Boxship:

Features of the Oli’s Boxship

The Oli’s Boxship comes in an attractive box the size of a shoe box. It contains different materials designed for creative play between parent and child.

Shane opens her second Oli’s Boxship.

The contents of the box of the month are itemized, complete with detailed instructions on how to use them. We have received a couple of boxes of Oli’s Boxship and everything was properly audited and in order. It contains everything you need to complete the project.

The contents of our second Oli’s Boxship. It even came with scissors.

For younger kids like 5 years old and below, I suggest parental supervision. It would be best if we could be there for the unboxing so that we can check if all the contents are there. Also, we could ensure that the kids do not misplace the items.

Igniting Creative Play

Igniting creative play is the slogan of Oli’s Boxship. They strive to provide materials that will spark the  creative ideas and imagination of kids. The boxes contain materials and concepts that are engaging to young minds.

We made a pillow for the dog using felt cloth and fiber fill. Both are already provided with the box.

It was discovered that through creative play, kids develop their intellectual and motor skills. Meanwhile, they are also able to hone their ability to express themselves. In this digital age, we need to stimulate creative play more than ever. We need to get our kids off gadgets and let them play more and create new things.

Shane is seriously working on filling up the puppy shape with fiber fill

Kids have different kinds of learning styles, but I think that everyone would be interested in creating new stuff. Creating and building make our kids really happy and fulfilled. They get a certain kind of satisfaction when they produce something.

The Element of Surprise

Whenever your child gets an Oli’s Boxship, there’s always the element of surprise. Both you and your child do not know what you are getting for a particular month, which makes it more exciting. So when you open it, both of you will be very excited about what’s in store.

Shane and her older sister Shawna figure the instructions.

There are different themes for every month. Each Oli box contains the necessary materials to build and create. Sometimes, you get a book related to the theme, like we had on our first box.

Owning a Furry Pet

For the second box that Shane got, both girls got very excited because it involved creating a stuffed puppy. We can’t really have pets in the house because for one, the kids are allergic to fur. Secondly, we don’t have the space.

Shane named her new pet Liana. How adorable! <3

So this is the closest to having a pet for them and it was something that they made from scratch. The puppy came with ownership papers, so Shane named her Liana. It was like pet adoption, except that we made one!

Family Bonding

It was indeed a family bonding time. Shane is not yet a very prolific reader so her sister Shawna had to read most of the instructions and carry them on. They also worked together on some of the more difficult tasks, like making the balls from a certain kind of powdered sand material.

Check these out. With the addition of water, the kids were able to make colorful, bouncy balls.

Eventually, I had to help because not even Shawna can handle the sewing. I had to guide her in starting and also in closing the stitches. Don’t worry about the sewing though. The box came with a big plastic needle and the dog’s casing already had holes in them, so it’s completely safe.

I allowed the kids to do whatever they could. When they couldn’t anymore, that’s when I came in to help. But I was just around, trying to keep myself from taking over. hahaha
