I started the kids early with dental hygiene. So I had to find a dentist that could cater to their needs.

How to Find a Good Dentist

Everybody in the world pretty much knows that going to the dentist regularly is important if you want to maintain oral health. Forget having perfect white teeth – just keeping cavities and other dental issues at bay can be hard enough for many people.

The fact is that you don’t have to go to dentist after dentist in the hopes that you’ll find one you can trust. At least one that won’t gouge you out or make you feel like you’ve entered a torture chamber every time you get on that dreaded dental chair.

The truth is that you can find a good dentist that you will like visiting regularly, even if it’s never your favorite afternoon activity.

Keep reading to learn more about finding the right dentists for you. It might be a whole lot easier than you think.

So here are some tips in finding the right dentist for you.

Ask Your Friends

Friends that you know and trust are your best resources for finding a dentist. For some reason though, many people don’t feel comfortable asking friends for medical recommendations.

But your friends are sometimes just ready to want to help you–if only you would ask. And especially if they, too, had a hard time finding a dentist in the past. Make sure they actually recommend their dentist though – not just one that they know about. There’s a big difference between a recommendation and just passing a name along.

Don’t Forget About Work

If you can’t find a good dentist through friends, don’t be afraid to contact people at work. It may not be your typical Monday morning water cooler chat, but there’s nothing wrong with asking for a name!

Pick Up the Phone

Most people think that going to the dentist and getting some sort of procedure done. Even a routine checkup is the best way to get experience with a doctor. While that’s certainly effective, it isn’t your only option when it comes to finding a dentist.

Pick up the phone and take five minutes to speak with the dentist yourself. You’ll get a feel for the office and the people at the front desk who may be nurses. You’ll also see if you have a solid rapport with a potential dentist before you even visit the office.

In my case, I went to a good dentist once but was turned off because of her secretary. I never went back ever since. And that was about 20 years ago.

If they make you feel uncomfortable on the phone, they may not be the right choice for you. This is especially true if you’ve got a fear of dentists in general.

Finding a Dentist for Kids

For me, finding the right dentist for kids is most important because I know that the right dental habits should be started early.

Thankfully, in our case, we are happy with Comfydent Dental Clinic here in Bacolod City. My children love the siblings, Dr. Dianne Lim-Militante and Dr. Eltton Fritz Lim, both dentists. We trust them to take care of our pearly whites and the kids have grown up with them.

If you are too busy during weekdays, then you will have to find options so that you can get your oral health maintained. Weekend dentists near you are your best options.

For me, finding a good dentist is very important because I am a stickler for dental health. And thankfully, I have passed on the habit to my kids.
