The Rewards of Investing in Jewelry
Precious stones, gemstones, and gold jewelry have always been part of world culture since time immemorial. From ancient times to the present, only designs change. But the value we put on them remains the same.
These beautifully crafted adornments continue to hold real meaning and value.
Throughout the course of history, jewelry has been offered as a trophy, an amulet, and sometimes, even art. They can be worn, given as gifts, or just displayed.
They perfectly symbolize love, the celebration of milestones, and of course, the ultimate representation of wealth.
Economic Rewards of Investing in Jewelry
The line between jewelry and money has always been intertwined with each other. To this day, authentic jewelry continues to be used as currency, inheritance, and investment.
Many people buy jewelry as an investment. For some, it’s because the value increases. But others say that these are pawnable items that they can let go for a good price during rainy days.
Just so you know, investing in jewelry requires the right knowledge and responsibility. It is a wise and valuable asset to have as it continues to grow in value every year.
In fact, many investors prefer investing in jewelry more because it is less risky than other markets. While the value of the world’s currencies constantly fluctuates, gold, diamonds, and other precious metals and stones remain stable.
Despite the many global economic downturns, including the current pandemic that has severely affected economies worldwide, the value of jewelry has held strong.
On a personal level, pawnable jewelry can easily turn into cash when the need arises. During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, many people went to the pawnshops to pawn their real jewelry. Or they sell them to those who have more.

The Emotional Benefits of Investing in Jewelry
Though the price of gold, gold jewelry, diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, and other gemstones also fluctuates, its value however has never truly depreciated significantly. Their value continues to steadily appreciate over time.
Moreover, there are emotional benefits to buying jewelry.
Some examples of the emotional rewards that push women to invest in jewelry:
- For a woman, buying her own jewelry is a symbol that she has worked hard and is on the way to achieving her dreams.
- When she becomes a mom, she feels that she can pass on the jewelry pieces to her children. If she has a daughter, she can give everything to her or divide them between daughters. That is why I have several pieces of jewelry–I have two girls to pass them on to. Meanwhile, the mom might want to prepare jewelry sets for her son’s future fiancee. That is the usual practice in Filipino-Chinese families.
- It is also a status symbol — that a woman has rebirthed to a more sophisticated version of herself.
- Investing in jewelry is timeless and its value does not diminish, so trends don’t affect it. Read: Timeless Mom Style on a Budget Tips
There are also men who like real jewelry. It is a symbol that they can already afford to buy luxury items.
At the same time, they are also happy to give them to their spouses or girlfriends. It is emotionally gratifying to give your wife something of value, like a ring or a bracelet in appreciate for her dedication to the family.
“Real jewelry becomes more valuable over time and it is a great investment asset to have. It pays dividends in the future,” said Tyzianna Teves of Just Jewels.

In the Philippines, she introduced this way of selling in 2005 during the inauguration of the first Just Jewels store at Glorietta 4 mall in Makati. Soon after, more Just Jewels stores have opened, incorporating this novel retail experience in jewelry.
