We have been collecting SM Bears of Joy for several years now. The year 2020 is most significant for all of us because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Joy in Collecting SM Bears of Joy
We are keen on making and keeping family traditions for our little family. It is my desire that our children will grow up with fond memories of their childhood, even if these are just simple things.

One of the traditions that we have kept for several years now is adding to our collection of SM Bears of Joy every year.
So every Christmastime, around end of November or first week of December, we go to SM City Bacolod to get them 2 pairs of bears. That way, they each get to give out one and bring home one as a remembrance. Then we would use the bears to decorate our Christmas tree.
We bring the kids with us to the mall so that they can choose the bears they like and also write the dedication on the card. One time, SM Bacolod PRM May Castro even invited us during the turnover of the bears to the residents of Kalipay Foundation in SM City Bacolod.
The Covid-19 Edition
However, Covid-19 changed all that. This year, the kids are no longer allowed inside the mall. I went alone, picked the bears that the girls chose from the website and I wrote the messages that they sent to me.
As with the previous years, there are four SM Bears design this year and they come in four colors: blue, green, pink, and military fatigue. All of them have names and designations—all representations of the frontliners who bravely served the country during the Covid-19 pandemic.

To remind us all of safety protocols while the Covid-19 is still around, all the bears wear face masks.
Getting All the Designs
Since this is a special year that is in dire need of good cheer, we opted to complete the collection. We got all four bears—one from each of the girls and one each from their Dad and me.
We put up the two bears on the tree while the girls kept the other two on their bedside.
Collecting SM Bears of Joy has been a part of our annual Christmas traditions—a reminder that the world is not just about us. We find joy in sharing our blessings and in cheering up other people.
In this time that Covid-19 changed all of us, let us continue to spread more kindness around us.
