Alee Benson Artistry: Pure Genius

On our 15th wedding anniversary last May, I didn’t ask for anything from hubby except for a photo shoot. Looking back, the things that last after a celebration are the memories made, especially the ones captured through a lens. So instead of a big celebration or a gift to mark the day, I thought of having a family photo shoot. I wanted to remember this period in time.

Mind you, planning a photo shoot session, albeit a casual one, is tedious for me, as I don’t really like prepping. Makeup, choosing outfits, and setting appointments stress me out.

But I decided to get my hair and make-up done professionally because we don’t have a family pictorial in the studio done every day. Too bad though that our photographer had to cancel because of schedule conflicts, so we settled for a studio at the mall. I know that we could have rescheduled, but knowing my personality, I might push back the photo shoot for another five years. haha

For this make-up session, I picked Alee Benson Artistry. And I am glad that I did — the man is pure genius.

The Strokes of a Genius

I know I look decent but I have bad skin and an uneven complexion, thanks to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).

Moreover, I am already 47 and it doesn’t help that I don’t exactly maintain an age-appropriate skincare regimen. haha Too lazy. And there are makeup artists who “do not get” my facial features. Instead of enhancing my features, I look wornout.

But not Alee. After his magic touch, I definitely looked younger and fresher! Super love the look even for just a casual studio shot.

Most Gorgeous Home Salon in Bacolod

Aside from his artistry, Alee has perhaps the most gorgeous home salon in Bacolod. Being a plantito and a lover of beautiful things, his indoor studio is an elegant mix of modern salon equipment interspersed with lush foliage of collectible plants.

But more than that. He also has an al fresco area for those who only need a haircut. This area came to be during the pandemic. With events at a standstill, Alee’s bookings also stopped. But he knew that people needed haircuts and he also needed to make a living.

With his wife Ching, they devoted their time to serving in the community as well as collecting plants while COVID-19 raged around the world. The couple filled their vacant space and turned it into a lush cove that is just the perfect nook for a morning coffee or a spot for afternoon tea.

But being businessmen, they came up with the idea of putting a salon chair outdoors in order to safely give haircuts to those who would like to avail of their services. It’s a hit.

Now that we have learned to live with the virus in the new normal, Alee continues to accept clients for hair color and styling, which he is very good at. They also accept bridal hair and makeup packages.
