We Filipinos really love our holidays! And so the 100 Days Christmas countdown begins today, September 16. At SM City Bacolod, they welcomed the event with Christmas carols and Santa Claus!
Joining the 100 Days Christmas Countdown
Christmas is so here! There is a felt difference in the mood. Holiday songs start playing and retail stores bringing out seasonal decor and wares. Some homes start decorating as early as this month.
September 16 marks 100 days to the most wonderful time of the year – Christmas Day! SM Supermalls around the country celebrated today with a countdown launch, officially ushering the festive holiday season.
In Bacolod City, SM celebrated with a short but festive program filled with Christmas carols. Our family attended the holiday event together and the girls wore Christmas costumes. Or at least Shane did, dressed as Santa’s elf. Shawna is already turning into a little lady, so she just donned an all-red outfit.
The De La Salle Chorale held a mini-Christmas concert of the most loved seasonal songs. They also sang a powerful rendition of SM’s newest Christmas jingle, “SM Mallidays.”
Santa at the Mall
Of course, tradition dictates that Christmas is not complete without Santa Claus. Naturally, Santa made an early sighting and gave out treats to the children. He went around the mall while the band Mojo Nova entertained mallgoers.
Christmas in the Philippines
Pinoy families are known to celebrate Christmas with gusto, stretching festivities up to four months. The countdown starts as soon as the ‘ber’ months hit, namely September, October, November and December. And the partying goes beyond December 25 all the way to after New Year.
Fun-loving and family-oriented also describe the Filipino people. These are probably the reasons why Christmas is celebrated early and for very long. Filipinos want to remember the season, to enjoy and spend it with family. The season is a reminder of enjoyable and happy family traditions.
Christmas at SM Malls
SM malls have been around for more than 30 years and have been a big part of Filipino family traditions. Christmas is one such fun time at the mall.
The music, festive mall decorations, gift selections, events, and holiday necessities form part of Christmas memories in the Philippines.
In Bacolod, locals can look forward to new Christmas experiences with exciting treats, entertainment, and visual delights. December may still be a few months away but SM City Bacolod starts the countdown today. And we are already feeling like the place to be for good food, fun times and everything else.
How fun! I can’t believe Christmas isn’t too far away. 100 days? Wow, I am ready for it. But first I am excited for Halloween.
I’m not ready for Christmas to come! I just need fall to stay for a little while longer for now. I can’t deal with the snow and cold! But this is a fun event. And the girls look cute in their Christmas costumes. 🙂
I can’t really think about Christmas yet. It’s way too far off for me. I am all for the Halloween joy! And it’s coming soon, much sooner actually. We are excited for the Halloween parties where we can wear costumes!
How can the holidays be only a few months away? Waaaa times flies so fast! It is crazy when you think about it, but I love the idea of starting the Christmas celebration early. But boy, it sure can be expensive!
Honestly can’t wait for Christmas! The smell of gingerbread, warm fires and drinks. But most importantly.. family! And reunions and parties!
couldn’t imagine Christmas is about to happen again and in just a few months, there will be carolers and Christmas songs already. 100 days till Christmas since you wrote this? That means the countdown is on! waaaa
