To re-enforce friendships as we continue homeschooling in Bacolod, we have regular play dates with friends. Today, we went out with the kids’ BFF and usual companion, Cody. Our destination was Cafe Conceptu — a unicorn cafe in Bacolod.
Play date at Cafe Conceptu: A Unicorn Cafe in Bacolod
Ever since our eldest daughter Dindin was a toddler, we always had play dates with friends. Our friendships have evolved, so the kids have also developed friendships with different sets of friends, all from families we know and trust.
But their usual companion is Cody, with whom they also had a dress up play date recently.
For the Love of Unicorns
Our second daughter, Shane, absolutely adores unicorns. They make her happy. She has several unicorn toys already–all gifts from friends. That is the reason why I thought that she would love a visit to the only unicorn cafe in Bacolod — Cafe Conceptu.
So along we with Dindin and Cody, we spent our afternoon there. The kids played while the moms chatted. hehe
Bacolod Unicorn Cafe
Cafe Conceptu is a unicorn cafe, with candy colored interiors and unicorn toys all over. They have throw pillows where diners can just lounge around.
They have a couple of unicorn costumes that guests can borrow and wear for a photo opp. These are for grown up or teenagers already, but I still let the kids wear the costumes for pictorial. They wore it a total of five minutes. haha
I think they were itching to get out of the costumes, not only because they are ill-fitted for their small frames but also because the fabric is thick and it was a hot summer afternoon. But I also think that they felt a little icky because the costumes didn’t look like they were recently washed, including the toys and the covers of the throw pillows. Just saying.
This novel Bacolod restaurant is small but compact. On one side are tables with seats while on the other side is a double-deck with stairs that guests can climb onto.
Cafe Conceptu Food
The food at Cafe Conceptu is nothing extraordinary. I had Nachofries for P80 (fries and nachos served with mayonnaise and cheese spread) while my kumare Pynky had hotdog sandwich, nachofries, and another order of fries (served with ketchup-mayo). They have other snack items, too, all very easy on the family budget.
I liked their selection of drinks, though, some smoothies and shakes. Dindin ordered their chocolate mousse smoothie and it was so good. And the best thing is, for a Mason jar sized drink, it only costs P65!
Cafe Conceptu is a unicorn cafe but you come here for the novelty. For young people, you will get a lot of Instagrammable photos here–with or without costumes. For younger patrons, they might easily get bored. For older folks, well, you have a comfortable place to stay while babysitting your young ones. haha But don’t expect much with the food. I just had a good time bonding with my kids over some snacks.
And oh, it’s the perfect spot for a father-daughter bonding date. I would recommend this place for fathers with your daughters.
Photo Shoot
And because Cafe Concept has great unicorn stuff and decors, a photo shoot was in place. It was only yesterday that we held our summer pictorial in Lantawan View Silay, but they were already game to do it again today. Of course, the pictorial lasted for barely 10 minutes only and the rest was for eat and mostly, play. hehe
Relaxed Afternoon
My kumare and I had a pretty relaxed afternoon while the kids played. Cody got bored first, though, probably because he is a boy and unicorns appeal to girls the most.
Eventually, however, Shane had a meltdown and the whole unicorn cafe was shookt. haha We were about to leave when Cody passed on the unicorn stuffed toy that she had been playing with to the kid across the room. She wanted it back but I dunno why she didn’t ask for it back when she is usually very outspoken. She just kept bawling and shouting and refused to leave.
I had to climb up the stairs to the top deck to remove her, as she was sprawled over the area. Her Ninay Pynky had to get her from me because I could not bring her down myself. Then I had carry her out and she kept crying for maybe 45 more minutes until we reached SM City Bacolod. She can sometimes drive me crazy!
Shane’s Love for Unicorns
Here’s Shane last Christmas with the first unicorn stuffed toy she received.
