GMEA 2020, short for Globe Media Excellence Awards, is a prestigious award-giving body organized by Globe Telecom. And this year, this mommy blog snagged the Blog of the Year award for Visayas.
The GMEA 2020
Media and bloggers played a very crucial role during the last year. People rely on them to deliver breaking news, updates, and in-depth reports about the pandemic.
Globe Telecom thinks that these modern-day heroes also deserve recognition for the risks they take and their contributions in sharing facts.
For 2020, GMEA was dedicated to honoring the newsmakers and organizations. This is for their exemplary work in bringing COVID-19-related information to the public. Practitioners in print, broadcast, and digital media are included.
“Even with the challenges that 2020 gave us, we are grateful to you for demonstrating purposeful reporting. The newsroom has significantly evolved. As we continue to work towards one digital nation, we are allies in connecting Filipinos, arming them with quality news and information to help them better understand what is happening.” This was said by Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu during the GMEA online awarding ceremonies.
Globe SVP for Corporate Affairs Yoly Crisanto added: “Much like our doctors and nurses who we call our frontliners, newsmakers have also been given a tall order. That is the responsibility to continue to deliver accurate and timely news updates to their readers and followers. We salute you for fulfilling your duties unfailingly despite the pandemic disrupting our way of life.”
For 2020, GMEA received over 400 entries from Visayas and Mindanao. The online event may be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/GlobeIcon.
Mommy Blog as Blog of the Year
As a blogger, I have been joining the GMEA for several years now and I have won some awards. But never Blog of the Year Award.
This year, I never thought that Globe Telecom will hold the GMEA 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. But despite that, I kept writing in this blog. Writing kept me sane.
At the same time, I thought that the pandemic year was one for the books so I documented the happenings as much as I could. But more than that, I wanted to share encouraging stories.
The days just turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. It seemed that the pandemic had a way of warping the events and it also messed up our minds.
Meanwhile, productivity kept me grounded. Whether it’s for my blog, my stints in the kitchen, as well as gardening, keeping myself busy was an effective therapy for me.
While I was doing that, I realized that many people are also being blessed by the stories I shared. So I kept writing and sharing and one thing led to another and it eventually led me to the coveted GMEA 2020 Blog of the Year Award. My entry was entitled Resilient Pinay Moms + Other Inspiring Stories.
Where Thanks Are Due
This is a very memorable award because I received it at a time like this. 2020 had not been easy for ALL of us, to say the least. It was the kind of crisis that spared no one. The scales have been tipped.
Primarily, thanks and praises be to God! All the wisdom, favor, protection, guidance, and ideas come from Him. He is the Creator and Master of All Creativity. And I am glad to be part of His creation.
During the pandemic, the whole chapter of Psalm 91 comforted me and kept me believing in better days to come. I kept reading and listening to it in my Bible app, which you can download from this link.
Thank you Globe Telecom for the recognition and for believing that something good can still come out of this pandemic. And thank you to all my readers who have warmly accepted my mommy blog.
The Family
My husband has been my number one cheerleader, tech support, and hug therapist — thank you so much! Love you to the moon and back but I know that you love me more. Mwah!
The children, Shawna and Shane, are the reasons why we are parents, why we started this blog, and why we are on our homeschooling journey.
Then there are my parents and parents-in-law who protect us and never fail to pray for us. Thank you for all the love. <3
Special thanks to some friends who are also my prayer partners. Your prayers are not tangible but they go straight to Him. <3
