About San Carlos City
San Carlos City is the boundary city between the twin provinces of Negros Occidental and Oriental. It’s a mountainous city with lots of trees and whose people are crazy about football. From Bacolod City, it only takes about a 2.5-hour road trip without stopovers to reach San Carlos City.
This city is my hometown. Though I have lived in Bacolod City most of my life, San Carlos City is where I started my journey. But by grandparents have passed away now and we no longer have an ancestral home to speak of.
It has been almost 12 years since I last visited San Carlos and I was surprised with the many new developments. I was glad to reconnect with relatives from my mothers’ side and also to have a look around the city that I once called home.
Our trip to San Carlos is part of the Tri-City Negros Occidental Tour using the Ford Ranger Wildtrak.
Family Room at FB Travellers Inn
Since we no longer have an ancestral home in San Carlos City, we opted to stay at FB Travellers Inn. This is a relatively new building that’s conveniently located along the Eco-Tourism Highway. It’s the main road that connects San Carlos to Bacolod via the municipality of Don Salvador Benedicto.
But hey, don’t confuse FB Travellers Inn with Facebook, okay? FB, in this case, has a different meaning. hehe It’s the name of the parents of the owners — Fe and Ben. So, now you know. hehe
FB Travellers Inn is a new building. The rooms are spacious and clean. But what I really like is that it has a family room with a matrimonial bed and one single bed. Hubby, Shane, and I stayed on the big bed while Shawna stayed in the single bed.
Moreover, it is a big room that can fit an extra bed in case you have a third child.
Amenities
Here are the property amenities at FB Travellers Inn:
- Standby Generator
- Coffee | Restaurant
- Telephone in every room
- Free Wifi
- Gated Parking Lot
- Hot and cold shower in the Family room
- Air conditioning in some rooms
Comfortable Yet Affordable
FB Travellers Inn has all we need for a comfortable stay — air conditioned, clean, and spacious. I appreciate the fact that although they provide budget accommodations, their mattresses are not those four-inch low-cost foam. They have comfortable beds and this is important for those with chronic back pain like mine.
Moreover, the best thing is — they have a parking lot within the compound. We really appreciate this because we brought along the new Ford Ranger Wildtrak for a test drive in this part of Negros Occidental.
Since there’s no airport in the area, travelers to San Carlos basically get through on a car. As you park for the night, you feel secure that your vehicle is safe. Not that San Carlos City is unsafe, because this is a pretty peaceful city.
